Next, the Holy magic doesn't seem to work, again no explanation as to why! All that effort to get it, and it doesn't do any good. Win98 SE shutdown problem part 3

No visualization
It is not possible for a virus to do this - if you really booted from the WinXP installation CD and got a black screen then you have a hardware problem. After checking the cable connections, resetting the hard drive and memory (as per suggestions in the various posts) things got even worse.

After the update had finished I was instructed by the program to "Press F1 to restart" After the reboot was presented by a black screen and no POST beep. As we were having problems with the system, we assumed the board to be faulty and got a replacement from our supplier in the UK, Bluepoint.
